How to Get Smooth and Bump Free Skin: Home Waxing

1. Don't shave for three weeks
Just like waxing at a salon, when you wax at home you want the hair to be about 1/4 inch long before waxing. The reason for this is the hair should be removed entirely from the root. So for best results, don’t shave for at least three weeks prior to your at-home waxing session.
2. Don't wait until the last minute.
If you’re planning a beach vacation or just a day trip, don’t wait until the day before to wax. You may experience some irritation or redness in the area for a day after waxing and you don’t want to feel uncomfortable in a bathing suit. You can reduce the appearance and feel of irritated skin by using a soothing aloe skin gel after waxing.
3. Don't over-wax the same area
It’s tempting to keep going over the same areas until every trace of hair is gone. But this can cause skin irritation and can be time-consuming and painful. Instead, try using tweezers for those hard-to-reach hairs. For sensitive areas, consider using an after-wax lotion when you’re done to soothe your skin.
4. Do wash and prepare the area to be waxed
Make sure the area is clean and oil-free. If you do not properly clean your skin prior to waxing you may be at risk of infection.
5. Test wax the area to wax
Put a small amount on the inside of your wrist to determine proper temperature.
6. Hold tight and pull against hair growth
Hold the skin tight for easier removal and smooth results. Pull against the direction of the hair growth.
