What is a Bolster Pillow?

A bolster is a pillow that is often cylindrical or semi round. These body cushions are used by RMTs, physical therapists during treatment sessions. They help elevate parts of the body such as the knees, legs or back as required during treatments.

How to use a Bolster Pillow?

Bolster pillows enhances your client comfort and aid various sleep positions They assist massage therapists to improve their practice by gaining accessibility to the client.

Since our bodies rarely lie flat on a treatment table, bolsters come in very handy for therapists. Tuck them under knees or legs for extra support or use it to elevate a certain body part. The placement of these support aid under the knees, for example, helps to alleviate pressure on the lower back and de-accentuate the curvature of the spine.

• Cylinder Pillow are like a cylinder - they are great for positioning your client and acts as a body pillow on the massage table.
• Half Moon Bolster (half round / semi round bolsters) are great as a knee bolster for tucking under knees. They won't slip away or roll over during sessions
• Three-Quarter Round Bolsters are similar to the semi round ones. They are round on one side and flat on the other side. Used for support under knees, legs and back
• Wedge Bolsters have a unique design that transforms a flat table into recline, supine and other positions to aid massage and body treatments.
