A vitrectomy is a surgery to remove the fluid from the vitreous within your eye. The fluid is usually replaced with a gas bubble to help heal the retina or macula. After the surgery, your doctor will most likely require you to maintain a face-down position while the eye heals. Check out our Vitrectomy Frequently Asked Questions page for more information about the procedure and recovery process.
